Would you like to be in the shoes of Dana White? They are willing to make the sacrifices that it implies? If so, tighten belts and prepare for the most exciting trip of their lives. Dana White, today, is one of the most influential men of the sport and President of a franchise a synonym of mixed martial arts (MMA), UFC. White has brought to the sport of the shadows and glittering acute vision and a titanic effort become a mass sport the MMA has given.
The President of the UFC is a man with a practical philosophy, an addict to employment that obsesses him, fully committed to the sport that made him a public figure of importance, as well as his Gladiators that entertain the public Saturday to Saturday.
In eleven years as President of the UFC, Dana White has only missed an event, for health reasons. Dana travels the world in private jets and has come to be on three continents in the same amount of days. The few hours of sleep do not seem to be a problem for him:
"I sleep about three to six hours per day." The good thing about me is that I do not require too long sleep. I don't sleep. To tell the truth it bothers me. I wake up much. "The reason why the UFC does not grow even more is because there is not enough time and people have to sleep" States.
Despite his busy schedule, Dana is his scarce free time enjoying with her family in Las Vegas: "weekends that we do not have event are cent per cent devoted to my children." "From that came the Friday night until Monday morning the step with them", explains this dedicated father of three children.
White hangs in the first row of their shows with some of the top Hollywood celebrities who share their passion for the MMA as Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, Mike Tyson, Mandy Moore and Kevin James and is always a few minutes to share your time with fans by signing autographs or giving away tickets for events. Dana feels one amateur and so lives that way before each of the shows.
Dana White was born in Manchester, Connecticut, but spent most of his childhood in Massachusetts and Las Vegas. There he grew up admiring the large canopies of the world Pugilism and up ever dared to dream of starring in one of those boxisticas evenings. His dream was fading over time, but his love of combat sports was on the rise.
Tired of working in a relationship of dependency, Dana decided to venture into the sports management. There he met and began to shape the destinies of a two future members of the UFC Hall of Fame: Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. Its links with the world of sports of combat and its finished business knowledge took him to see a future for the UFC then deficit.
Dana needed a financier to realize your project and decided to persuade an old friend from College, the magnate Lorenzo Fertitta, the Casinos of Las Vegas, in what seemed a risky investment:
"We were all types of boxing and thought the UFC was a joke." "I thought that these men would not be rivals for a good Boxer" admitted in one of his interviews White.
The JIU-Jitsu would change their perception and prejudices about mixed martial arts, until then unregulated. Dana and Fertitta brothers began to take classes of "soft art" with one of the first black belts of the discipline in the United States, John Lewis. The JIU-Jitsu sparked a fascination in White and the Fertitta brothers and is largely responsible for the evolution of the sport of UFC hand: "the JIU-Jitsu changed my life." "Opened us our eyes to a new world," admitted Dana.
The first years of the UFC under the auspices of Zuffa LLC were not all encouraging. The vision of their new owners decided not to abandon the project, was essential to keep afloat this real "gold mine" in power. Years later, the decision seems to have been correct. The UFC is a franchise, valued at billions of dollars.
In October 2010, Dana was invited by the Oxford Union Society, a prestigious debating society, prior to one of the events of the UFC in England. There, from the podium, addressed all his listeners with valuable advice which has surely made reflect more than one:
"Take whatever you want to do and do it free if it is necessary." It is the only way of doing this. "The worst thing that can happen is that you have to go back to your old job, something that in any case make already experienced."
